Fair Housing

Fair housing laws prohibit discriminatory actions against applicants/residents of housing based upon a protected class* (i.e., race, color, national origin or ancestry, family with children, religion, sex (gender), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran or military).

More information about Fair Housing in Snohomish County is available on the following webpages:

Fair Housing laws protect you against housing discrimination. You have the right to equal housing opportunity and you may not be discriminated against because you are a member of a protected class.

Fair Housing laws cover most types of housing, including apartments, houses, and non-profit housing.

Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice
A report was conducted for Snohomish County that identifies barriers to fair housing in our community. The report, Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice, or AI, includes a recommended five-year Fair Housing Action Plan to help address these barriers and improve access to housing.
